Mahatma Gandhi is known as the ‘Father of the Nation’ and is remembered for playing an important role in India’s independence. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was born in coastal Gujarat to a merchant family, was inspired to fight for his country’s independence after experiencing racial discrimination in South Africa.
